Electronic Boarding Passes

So tonight, I am flying home to NJ for spring break. I had a new option when checking-in online; a boarding pass that can be shown on my iPhone at the time of boarding. I do not know how this will work before going through security, as they usually initial your boarding pass after checking your identity. I have plenty of time at the airport, and I have a red-eye flight at 23:35, so I am fairly certain that it will not take me long to get through security if any problems shall arise.
